Chloe's Journey - A Love Story
The Story
My name is Jeff Gervasi. My wife and I are the proud parents of a happy, full-of-life, 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback dog named Chloe. This is our story of her journey through the devastating diagnosis and the continued warmth of her wagging tail with us today.
In June 2019, during a wellness check at our local vet, a lump was found in her throat. The biopsy from the Para Tracheal Masses was diagnosed as thyroid cancer. Chloe was only 5 years old at the time, and this form of cancer is incredibly rare, even for older dogs.
She was referred to the Animal Medical Center for tests, and Chloe had thyroid cancer surgery on June 21, 2019. After a few months passed, Chloe was healing, and we were taking time to decide whether to proceed with radiation, which was recommended at the time. Unfortunately, after that time passed, we returned to the AMC. Further tests revealed the cancer had metastasized to her liver and possibly lungs. Basically, Chloe was handed a terminal diagnosis of a few weeks to a few months in November 2019.
We were introduced to the SecureBoost™ supplement product in December 2019, and Chloe took her first pill. This immunotherapy supplement has helped her by boosting her immune system and helping to fight her liver cancer. Over time, we wondered if this worked, and here we are, well over three years beyond Chloe’s terminal end date. Today, we are celebrating the holidays, and Chloe is thriving, behaving like she used to, getting into mischief, and always stealing my wife’s food. There are no signs of any decline, and we plan on her being around for years to come, celebrating birthdays, and enjoying time as a family.
